Lunch place : Cuisine de Bar
Wednesday, November 09, 2011
My French buddy - our school has a system of pairing exchange students with a French 'guide' - S and I thought we'd try a new place for our weekly lunch, other than the two most close places near school, le Bizuth and le Basile. This place is still quite close to Sciences Po. We are lucky to be situated in St Germain des Près area in the 6th arrondissement, where there are many great eating places.
Rue du Cherche-Midi on which this place is situated is actually a great stretch of road of plenty of lunch places. Even its name is suggestive - where people come at lunchtimes, à midi. Even more importantly, this is a sister site to the famous bakery next door, Poilâne, whose signature sourdough country bread is used at the restaurant.
It's quite small inside. The interior is simple and neat, with an open kitchen and many black and white prints.
The lunch formule is 13€. You get an entrée salad,
the main, tartine, which is an open sandwich. It consists of the famous Poilâne sourdough bread with various toppings. Mine was guacamole and shrimps,
S had fresh cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Salt, pepper, and herbs to taste,
and coffee to finish off. The coffee comes with a biscuit spoon. It's all about the details :)
