The Epiphany was the 6th of Jan, which is the 12th day of Christmas, where the three wise men are added to the Nativity scene as on that day they came to baby Jesus bearing gifts.

In France the Galette des Rois is eaten to celebrate this day. It's a puffy pastry cake with almond taste, and the tradition goes that the youngest goes under the table to call out which slice goes to which person, with the oldest person cutting random sized pieces of the cake. Inside the galette is a 'feve' which used to be a broad bean but now could be anything, like a china or even plastic figurine. The person with this feve in their slice gets to be the king or queen of the night, and has to pick out their partner.

I know it's already a couple of days past Epiphany, but I ordered a Galette des Rois from our local French boulangerie, just minutes from my parents' place. Will pick it up on Monday noon. I am looking forward to it, since I had tasted many in France a couple of years ago. I love it. Miam!
