Bread place: La Voie Francaise

The hunt was on, for a Galette des rois, aka King's cake. The frangipane one, not the Spanish style dried fruit one neither A nor I like. I wanted to find the porcelain figurine in my piece of cake and become queen for the day. A was more interested in eating as much of the almond-y frangipane as he can, then follow the annual tradition. A called the local French bakeries one by one until he hit one that baked the galette. Yay.
We had to go back twice because the first time all the galettes had already been sold. We were later told that this bakery is so popular, there are usually queues of people waiting for their breads in the morning. The bakery is big, and has a schedule of daily baking times on a blackboard, like in France. The galette was decent sized, had a thick layer of frangipane, and I found my fève. Happy A and V. We are going back for Kouign Amman - a sugery Breton cake, another French specialty we miss.
