Rice and beans festival at SILO park

Saturday, March 16, 2013

SILO park in the Wynyard Quarter in Auckland CBD is a cool place to hang out in the Summer. There are the weekend markets and the food stalls, then the outdoor film sessions, too.
There was a particular Saturday where the park celebrated the South American culture, named 'Rice and beans festival'. It was a ridiculously beautiful day, blue above and green below, sweating in the unforgiving heat.. The capoeira group danced in circles their war dance in white, while another group of girls swayed their hips around to a different type of beats on their grassy dance floor.
I am so so sad the summer is already over - the daylight saving in NZ ends on the first Sunday of April. Looking forward to another evening at SILO this weekend, with an artsy theme in conjunction the Auckland White Night. La nuit blanche d'Auckland !
