Backyard paradise

Friday, March 21, 2014

Every morning our huge fig tree in the backyard is filled with colourful visitors, pecking hungrily at its abundant fruit. Small rainbow parakeets hop from one branch to another, busy and greedy. They used to stay only near the top, ever cautious lest we shoo them away. But now they are coming further and further down as they become more and more brave. It's never one fruit at a time, either. It's small tastes here then off on another there, only the big juicy bursting ripe sweet ones, of course.
They are lucky we are generous with our sharing. They are lucky they are pretty to look at while they peck at our figs without permission.
