Rangitoto Island

Saturday, February 11, 2012

Green green New Zealand. There are so many volcanoes in the Auckland area, but Rangitoto is the most recent. It was formed around.. 1400?! Don't quote me on that. Experts say that Rangitoto is unlikely to explode again, but it is predicted that some other volcanic activity will hit Auckland sometime soon. How soon that would be, no one knows...
The crater of the volcanic island. Rangitoto is a beautiful island, pretty symmetric, kinda like a hat, I guess. It's very protected. No fixed inhabitants.
It was a decent climb up of one hour. At the summit, we were awarded with a beautiful view of Auckland.
