Nuit Blanche

Nuit Blanche happens once a year in Paris. It is a cultural event that happens during one night, where art installations and arts are programmed in selected parts of the city. S, J and I decided to check it out.

There were many video arts happening. Some of them required a person to hand hold the projector, like the person shown in the corner.

There were heaps and heaps of people out on this night for the experience.

How awesome is this tattoo ???!!! We were waiting for a dance performance to start, and this cool lady was sitting in front of where we were standing.

The dance performance. It was a mixture of different dance styles all dancing together, weaving in and out of each other. How they managed, we don't know. The hours of practise they must have put in for the night ! First of all, there were the tango dancers..

.. the belly dancers, ..

.. followed by lindy hop dancers, flamenco, hip hop, French cancan and even a contemporary dancer. They all had headphones on, so the audience could not hear the music they were dancing to, but I think they were all dancing to one music, which makes it all the more interesting. And art experiment, indeed ! There was a film crew capturing the moments.

This was a short film that amused us. I think it was Swedish ?! This guy is in a pub and starts singing.

Others join in the chorus, and it's very emotional, the main guy finishes with tears falling down his cheeks. It was very funny, we couldn't stop smiling and laughing. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed for a second viewing and sang the song for a good while afterwards, too !

Art is everywhere, even in the small places.

Here people were encouraged to throw ceramic pieces to hit the bottle target on the centre of the stage. The actual 'show' had finished ages ago - it didn't stop the crowds of people participating in the small violent fun though.
