Pizza place: Papa's pizza
Thursday, November 03, 2016
We had our Friday pizza night last night again. In Melbourne we used our pizza oven often. R would make our dough and B would do a wonderful job at making gourmet toppings. Now A and I try to create regular gourmet pizzas of our own. Our own homemade variations often have basil and pine nut pesto, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms, chorizo, and brie cheese.
When we are too tired to make our own, we go to Italian pizza restaurants. This so far hasn't been an usual occurrence mainly because we had not found a favourite place.
Until recently, that is.
Papa's Pizza is an unusual place. You walk through its red front door and fall into their tiny kitchen, too small for the crowd of people watching their pizzas get made ready for takeaway, too small for those dining in to pass and take their seats at the other end of the building. It's a place to get cosy.
The pizzas are small but enough for one person to feel full. On another occasion we chose a pasta dish and it was even better than the pizza. Even after the pasta was finished there were still quite a lot of the chicken and mushroom fillings left.
Definitely a favourite pizza place from now on.
