Dinner place: Mad for garlic
Friday, November 16, 2012An Italian pizza and pasta place in Gangnam, Seoul. Apparently it's a chain place, but it's definitely a higher class chain restaurant. Walk down the stairs and enter into a "cellar" full of wine bottle on the one side and wine glasses hanging upside down all along the ceiling. Dimly lit lights and garlic wreaths provides an eerie but chic atmosphere. Possibly more so because the day I went was an anniversary of the Dracula author, Bram Stoker, as I learnt on Google that day.
Our dinner menu consisted of a green spinach salad followed by a creamy seafood carbonara pasta and gorgonzola pizza. Accompanied by a sweet Chilean red wine. Delicious.
It seems like a waste of money to buy salad in restaurants when it is so easy and cheap to prepare, but of course when you don't have the time and/or the motivation to prepare such a simple healthy plate, better to eat it expensive than none at all. I love fresh spinach leaves, and have it all the time at my place. I missed fresh vege.
I prefer white over red sauced pasta and I love seafood. What can I say. It was lovely.
Gorgonzola is a veined Italian blue cheese made from unskimmed cow's milk. It's not a type of cheese I have easy access to, normally, so it's nice to be able to have it here in Korea. The pizza came with honey. I'd never had pizza with sweet honey drizzled over it, but it was so yummy, I am definitely going to do that more often from now on.
We finished the bottle of wine between the three of us. I think I must have gulped half of it myself. We headed home. It was late. Who cares, when your tummy is full with delicious food and you're happy and content.
La vita è bella :)
