Dinner place: No 1 Chicken
Monday, November 09, 2015
Having made a promise not to drink during the week, in an attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle, I sometimes find myself waiting, quite impatiently, for Fridays. Not that I've ever been a big drinker, but there is always a bottle of wine or a couple of beers in the reserve. Don't you?
Hurrying home excitedly one such Friday after work, my eyes fall on a sign. No 1 Chicken. Spicy chicken. Oooh. Beer goes with many a good range of dishes, but beer and chicken is like wine and cheese, they are meant to be. Especially in Korea, where there is even an official word for the combo, cementing the bride and groom until death do them part: Chimac. Chi for chicken, mac for macju, Korean for beer. Appropriately, No 1 Chicken is also Korean, and I thought it would be a good occasion to introduce A to the Korean styled spicy popcorn chickens.
We got the half and half deal, one original, one spicy, no bones, because I hate the fuss. Guess which one we liked the best? A preferred the naked chicken, while I preferred its sweet chilly coated partner, to swish down with a gulp of beer or accompanied by pickled white radish.
We were so full, afterwards! These small chicken pieces really do fill you up quite nicely. Not to mention the beer. No 1 Chicken opens 7 days, so if you are a week night beer drinker, well, they will go well together.
