I talk too much my mouth hurts

 My top Hobart place to go was MONA, but on top of M's list was the Salamanca Market, held every Saturday in Salamanca Square.
 It's quite a big place, showcasing many of the local artisan works, as well as food stalls and fresh produce.
M got a German bratwurst with sauerkraut. Mouth watering right now.

M's auntie said we had to go here. Upstairs is the fancy bit; downstairs is the spacious foodcourt like area, which reminded me of the States for some reason. It was pleasantly surprising in its cleanliness. The menu included scallop pies. Of course we went in.
It was our first day and the sun was shining brightly.
I liked the view of the Jam Factory building across the dock, and the roped up boats. It reminded me of a town in South West France I love.

 M and I kept passing it and telling each other, every time, we have to make a stop here! So after a visit to the public hospital just across the road, we did.
 They have a cafe area and a restaurant area. It's a hip place. Good coffee. We weren't even hungry but I said we'd eat here so we shared a chocolate waffle with dulche de leche drizzled over. A cool place.

The bar downstairs was noisy, but what do you expect on a Friday night? The room was cosy enough, as was the little double bed that seemed tiny compared to the King sized one we had slept on the night before. The bathroom was clean, though the water stream wasn't the strongest.
The best thing about Customs House Hotel is the location - close to Daci & Daci Bakers, the waterfront, and Salamanca place - and the complementary breakfast they offer. One meal from the menu and bottomless tea and coffee.

Kopi is coffee, and tiam is shop. So, literally, a cafe. You know the place is good when Singaporean girls come out of the shop all smiles with a full tummy, shouting, thanks auntie for the lovely meal, to the lady behind the counter. The 'auntie' offered two different types of noodles for my laksa, asked if I wanted it cooked there or would I do it at home, and offered to give separate bags for the soup and noodles so the noodles don't get soggy by the time I actually eat them. That's good service for you. I devoured those noodles, I was so hungry!

We thought we'd try a different place to sleep. Searched a place online, called to book over the phone. Found the place to check in... to find that it hadn't been saved in the system and now we were roomless. Eek. While the staff helped to find us another similar room nearby, we were consoled with a free gin and tonic and complementary bar nibbles. No worries. You've got our forgiveness.

 If I lived in Hobart, I would come here every week. Every chance I got. They have breads and tarts, both sweet and savoury, and salads. Can I please try every one of your delicious looking foods?
 They have different prices for take aways and eating in. I would choose to eat in every time. Or in the terrace just outside the cafe on fine days.
Be aware you may need to wait for a free table.

I love staying in hotels. Especially a clean and spacious one. This apartment hotel had a huge bed, and a bath tub, in which M had a lovely time bubble bathing. It's only a year old, so everything is still new. They don't have free breakfasts or spare toothbrushes at your disposal, but it was warm and felt good to be treating ourselves once in a while.

We had to stay in Hobart for longer than originally planned, and didn't know what to have for dinner. Dumplings! we thought, something small yet filling. Dumpling Express had a quick friendly service which we appreciated on the cold night back in Hobart.

This was the reason I agreed to come to Tasmania with M. I had heard wonderful things about MONA, and was really excited to visit. Normally you would take a ferry from Hobart, but we had stayed at a campervan park just next door, so just wandered over as soon as the door opened in the morning.
 The long driveway takes you past rows of grape vine trees. Then there are the grassy concert areas and Mickey Mouse hand like seating areas and a beautiful view overlooking the waters and a court to play tennis while admiring this view... then the entrance.
 Delve underground and you are given a high tech iPhone museum guide next to this bar.
 Let your museum visit begin!
 It's full of the weird and fascinating.
 These bulbs light up your pulse. These bulbs are also illegal in Australia. They had to ship them from China.

About half an hour from Hobart is a quiet camping park for your caravans, campervans and motorhomes. Or even just tents. It's right next to MONA as well, which is a must visit during your trip in Tasmania.

There are little tricycles everywhere - hence the name. Lovely shops nearby, too. We hadn't actually planned on coming here on our first day, but we were so happy we had found it by chance.
